Model Release
A model release is a contract in which a model consents to the use of his or her images by the photographer or a third party. This applies not only to professional models but also to anyone that is portrayed in an image or a photo.
The photographer is responsible for documenting the model releases and must be prepared to send the documents to buyers if requested. The releases are not in need to be uploaded to Mostphotos by the photographer.
When you publish a photo with a recognizable person or trademark and mark it as commercial royalty-free, you have stated that you in fact have a release.
If you disregard model releases you are acting fraudulently and in clear breach of the legal agreement.
Contact support@mostphotos.com if you have any more questions or need any help. -
Commercial vs Editorial
All images on Mostphotos are non-exclusive and can therefore be sold over and over again.
Commercial means that the photographer has written consent (a model release) from all the people/trademark/logo/company in the photo. This means that the image can be used in a commercial context and basically any other context as well. For instance in advertising for different products/causes/events.
Editorial are images that the photographer does not have written consent (a model release) for. These images can therefore only be used in news context and in relation to who/what the image portrays, for instance in newspapers.
If you are a buyer you also need to look into what license you need.
You can also choose to show only commercial images when you do a search for keywords on our site by filtering your search result. Be aware that you may not use the images in any context that can be offensive to the photographer/model.
If you are a contributor/photographer you are able to mark your image as commercial/editorial in the same place where you tag your images.
Contact support@mostphotos.com if you have any more questions or need any help. -
How to tag your images
In order to tag your images, go to Mediacloud > Library and mark the picture you would like to tag. Then add the relevant information (language, title, description, tags, license and content) in the right hand side of the window.
You can select one or multiple files when tagging your images. Multi-select by using shift/ctrl (PC), or command (MAC). If you have selected more than one picture click on the "Save" button that appears. If you have just marked/made changes to one image, the changes will be saved automatically.
Language Mostphotos will automatically translate the name, description and tags of your image. This is done so that buyers using other languages can find your pictures.
When tagging, you should not mix languages. Stick to one language when you enter the name, description and tags to your picture.
Tags You need to tag your images with at least 2 tags in order to make it possible for potential buyers to find them at the website.
The more relevant tags the better, but do not give your images too many tags since they then might be classified as spam. We recommend 5-15 tags per image.
Avoid using common tags such as “dog” or “flower”, since the site is flooded with these kinds of descriptions. Try instead to think of more unique tags such as “doberman puppy” or “red rose”.
Name and description The name and description are also important, mainly for search engine optimization. The more relevant text there is explaining the image the better it is for search engine web crawlers. Entering name and description increases the chance for your images to be visible on for example Google. Therefore, insert relevant text and use words that are directly related to your image. Be descriptive and describe exactly what the picture shows.
Contact support@mostphotos.com if you have any more questions or need any help. -
Vector images
Vector illustrations are very popular among customers. The main reason for this is that they can be upsized indefinitely without losing quality.
Vector file formats Mostphotos supports are: .eps8, .eps10 and .ai.
Vector + side jpg
In .eps10 and .ai files iptc data can be embedded directly in the files, but in old .eps8 that is not possible. The solution is to:
1) Export a side .jpg of your vector image where you embed iptc tags in.
2) Each file must be named exactly the same, character for character, except for the extension. For example: - vector1.jpg - vector1.eps
3) Upload it to the ftp, in the folder that is called vectorimages
Contact support@mostphotos.com if you have any more questions or need any help. -
Pre-tagged images
The upload system can read the JPEG information and will automatically import the tags (name, description and tags). You can pre-tag your images in applications such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom.
Contact support@mostphotos.com if you have any more questions or need any help. -
